A Letter From Travis Frederick

Hello,

My name is Travis Frederick, and I am the founder of the Blocking Hunger Foundation.  Today I write to you to discuss the reason for the foundation’s creation, its programs and goals, and what we are doing to accomplish these goals. I feel it is important to connect with you to express my appreciation for your interest and support in the foundation.  Without great public and private support, we cannot make the impact we strive to make.  As the founder, I can only steer the foundation; YOU are the engine that makes it run. For this, I thank you and implore you to learn more about Blocking Hunger and what we do.

I created the Blocking Hunger Foundation in 2016, and we have grown significantly since then.  When I first arrived in Dallas, I knew I wanted to be an active member of the community and help be a change for good.  As I was volunteering and helping pass out meals in downtown Dallas to some people in need one day, it hit me: no child should have to wonder where their next meal should come from.  As a professional football player, I got invited to attend many charity events, and I was able to see the remarkable generosity of people in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.  I had the realization that if I could provide a conduit between this generosity and the need of those children, I could make an impact.  At this point, I decided to create the Blocking Hunger Foundation.  The goal was clear: to provide support for as many children as possible and help give them the opportunity to be their best.  It was important to me to make sure that we weren’t just putting our name on existing programs. We were reaching children that weren’t already being supported through another program.

We are in the midst of our “Moving the Chains to Block Hunger” fundraising campaign.  Our goal through this program is to raise $22,500 over the course of 72 days.  We are currently over halfway there, but we need your help to reach our goal by July 29.  By raising $22,500, we will be able to provide over 10,000 meals to children in our community who are struggling with hunger.  We can be the positive change in their lives that can help springboard them into success.  Now is an incredibly important time for us to help these children.  Over the course of the summer, many children lose access to the food that they receive through the USDA’s free and reduced lunch and breakfast programs.  On top of that, our country is in unprecedented times with the COVID-19 pandemic. Millions of people have lost their ability to work and provide for their families.  Because of this, many children are in dire need of our assistance. The time to help is now.

As mentioned before, this foundation wouldn’t exist without the support of our donors and partners.  Today, I ask that you consider making a donation to the Blocking Hunger Foundation to help provide meals to children that are struggling with hunger.  YOU can make a difference.  Just $2 feeds a child for a day, $25 can feed them for two weeks, and $100 can feed two children for an entire month.  Every bit helps in our fight against childhood hunger. Again, our success has been because of our amazing donors and partners.

Thank you for all that you do to aid me and this foundation.  Your generosity inspires me to fight harder and find new ways to make a difference.

Thank you for your continued support,

Travis Frederick
