Travis Frederick Meal Pack Day

COWBOYS TEAMMATES JOIN TRAVIS FREDERICK TO PACK MEALS FOR BLOCKING OUT HUNGER OUTREACH

MEALS TO BE DISTRIBUTED THROUGH INAUGURAL THANKSGIVING BREAK NOURISH2FLOURISH PROGRAM

DALLAS (NOVEMBER 13, 2019) – On Tuesday morning, Dallas Cowboys Center Travis Frederick visited Sharing Life Outreach’s facility in Mesquite to pack backpacks full of meals for distribution through his Blocking Out Hunger Foundation’s Nourish2Flourish program. Accompanied by teammates Adam Redmond and Xavier Su’a-Filo, Frederick was able to pack and prepare over 480 backpacks full of nutritional, nonperishable food.
The nonprofit Sharing Life, who serves as a key community partner for the Blocking Out Hunger Foundation, will help distribute these 480 backpacks, along with another 520 more, to local households in need of hunger relief as part of the Blocking Out Hunger Foundation’s first-ever Thanksgiving Break Nourish2Flourish program.

One of two signature community outreach programs of Travis Frederick’s Blocking Out Hunger Foundation, Nourish2Flourish provides nutritional meals to students during extended breaks from school. Thousands of children in Dallas rely upon their school’s free and reduced lunch programs for daily nourishment. However, when schools close their doors for periods of time, such as summer and winter break, the students lose access to these meals. Nourish2Flourish addresses this gap by distributed backpacks full of meals to keep the students full until school starts back up.

In October, Frederick announced that the Blocking Out Hunger Foundation was committing $10,000 to provide meals during Thanksgiving Break for the first time ever. Students’ week-long Thanksgiving Break was the final break from school that Nourish2Flourish had yet to cover. Now, thanks to the meals that were packed on Tuesday, hundreds of students will enjoy ongoing meals this November while their schools’ doors are closed.
Tuesday’s meal packing event follows Frederick’s fourth-annual Steak-Out for Hunger event, held on October 7th at Omni Frisco. This event, which featured Frederick and his teammates mingling with more than 200 foundation supporters, raised over $200,000 in support of the Blocking Out Hunger Foundation’s hunger relief initiatives in Dallas.
